Cumming Construction is fully licensed and insured and has been serving Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Delaware Counties since 1999. We are members of the Main Line Chamber of Commerce, regularly commit time and resources to the Cookman United Methodist Church in North Philadelphia, and proudly sponsor the Haverford Soccer League.

As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (Delaware Valley Chapter), Cumming Construction is at the forefront of environmentally responsible and knowledgeable contractors in Philadelphia.

We are one of a handful of residential remodeling firms on the East Coast to employ a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional on our senior staff.

We are continually studying new construction techniques, products and materials through the National Association for the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and other on-going educational programs. We have received accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council in recognition of sustainable design and building capabilities. And our strong relationships with the lumber and masonry yards, supply warehouses, retailers, and subcontractors in the Philadelphia area enable us to quickly handle smaller jobs as well as capably facilitate larger projects.

Jonathan Cumming, President & Founder

Jonathan Cumming is a second generation contractor with over 25 years of residential construction experience.

At an early age, Jon apprenticed with his father’s contracting company in New York and New Jersey on weekends and during the summers. After graduation, he worked full-time gaining in-the-field training in all aspects of home remodeling — from masonry to framing as well as finish carpentry.

He took this experience with him to Northern California where he built new custom homes. It was here that he founded Cumming Construction General Contracting in 1991.

He and his family relocated to Havertown, and he has been building custom additions, performing residential renovations, and developing new construction on and around the Main Line since 1999. Jon is Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of St. Luke Methodist Church in Bryn Mawr.

David Posternack, LEED AP

David Posternack has been an integral part of the contracting, new business development, and sales efforts at Cumming Construction since 2003.

David recently achieved LEED Accredited Professional status by the U.S. Green Building Council in recognition of his thorough understanding of green building practices and principles. LEED provides a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations, and maintenance solutions.

His communications ability benefits his ongoing working relationships with clients, both conceptually and during the day-to-day job activity. A Lower Merion native and graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, David spent 10 years in Manhattan as a public relations executive before seeking a life change, returning to his hometown and joining Jon at Cumming Construction.  David now lives in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia with his wife and two children. He is a member of the board of The Friends of Penn Treaty Park.
